Around October 2022 I found out that I was totally wrong about recommending that Wordpress is not to be used. I had thought that Wordpress.org, where you can download the Wordpress content management system, and Wordpress.com were run by the same people. They were not.
Wordpress.org is run by the people who created Wordpress. WordPress.com is a hosted blogging service run by a company called Automattic. Automattic has nothing to do with Wordpress.org. So the two examples below of terminated websites are because these sites hosted their sites on wordpress.com. Since wordpress.com is providing a service (hosting), using Wordpress as the content management system, they have a right to delete websites that they deem have 'violated' their terms and conditions. So DO NOT USE WORDPRESS.COM to host your site. But by all means use the Wordpress content mangement system on your own privately hosted site.
Here is a PDF of the thread on the wordpress.org forum dealing with the question of censorship and site removal where I was told this info.
To create your site and manage it DON'T EVER, EVER, EVER USE WORDPRESS.
I have always hand coded my sites from when I started building them. I never liked Wordpress and was very suspicous of it right from the beginning. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I felt averse to using it. Yet many people have got hooked on it because it is, or can be, very easy to use. Which is the hook that gets you. It is designed for ease of use. Why? Because by making it easy people flock to it who have no idea how to code a site and blindly go ahead and become Wordpress Zealots.
My suspicions were borne out when a site in Nova Scotia, Canada, was removed by Wordpress for 'violating its terms and conditions'. What was the site about? It tied that area of Canada to the 9/11 atrocities.
Here is the link if you want to see for yourself what Wordpress did. Here is an image of the site's home page in case that site 'disappears':
'Aha! But its hosted on Wordpress's own server. They had every right to do what they wanted,' I hear you say. Well, OK, reasonable point. So what happened here?:
Dr. A. True Ott had his own domain and used Wordpress as the CMS (Content Management System). What was his site about? All sorts of very intresting things that gave a different viewpoint on world affairs. If you want to see what it was all about go here (an archive.org archive of the site).
If you don't know how to code there ia a great alternative to Wordpress.
Get Simple - This is a free content management system, is easy to install but may be a bit finickity to use as the support is nearly non-existent. There are lots of plug-ins so if you're comfortable about tinkering to get your site working with this system then try it.
Get rid of your Gmail*, Yahoo, Hotmail/Outlook/Windows Live and AOL email address.
I have had many, many emails get blocked by (especially) Gmail as well as by AOL when sending articles by Jim Stone. Try it yourself. Copy Jim Stone's site link, http://voterig.com, into an email and send it to one of your friends. See what happens. It will most likely get blocked and gives some stupid excuse about spam. No. What is happening is that Gmail (Google) and AOL are CENSORING what you send because they read your emails and they want to control what you look at and read. Simple as that. So get rid of them!
If you have a website, you do know that a domain with hosting comes with email, didn't you? ;) Use it to create your own fully controlled email address which you can easily access online or download it to your device. Interserver.net has hosting that gives you unlimited email storage online. The one drawback is that one of the modules they use for email, Roundcube, is a 3rd party software module and is maintained by that 3rd party company. During the 2020 they censored ALL emails to me from Trump's campaign HQ. I have not sorted them out yet (which I will do at some point).
To recap go to the next page....
* = most egregious censor of information.
